Jason Thomas in "We must cut tentacles of Islamist terror" (24/7) provides a perceptive anlaysis of how organisms mutate and replicate. However, in order to thrive, organisms need a physical base, a pool or a swamp. In the case of Islamic terror, that swamp is the ideology of Islam which via the Koran and the example of its prophet, provide innumerable texts inspiring violence against infidels, apostates, homosexuals, Christians and Jews.
Western and Eastern democracies need to analyse the Koran in detail and, to paraphrase President Donald Trump, "drain the swamp" which provides the motivation for Islamic individuals or cells to commit terrorist attacks.

Congratulations to Jennifer Oriel for her perceptive analysis of the UN: "This Is The Free world - And The UN Doesn't Like It" (31/7). The 57-Member Organisation of Islamic Co-operation is the largest voting bloc at the UN and exercises a disproportionate influence. While the UN castigates Australia and other democracies for not admitting more thousands of "boat people refugees", who ironically are mostly Muslims fleeing from Islamic countries, it does nothing to require OIC countries - some of which are wealthy oil producing regimes which are underpopulated and import workers from Asia - to take their fair share of these refugees. Indeed some OIC countries accept no refugees for fear of potential terrorism! Irony upon irony.
