DRUG HURTS WOMEN

LETTER TO THE HERALD SUN ON 22 NOVEMBER, 2005

ORIGINALLY feminists strove successfully to better conditions for women and demanded certain rights.

Now we are being told we have a right to take the "human pesticide" RU486.

It seems country women are more entitled to the death and illness this drug will bring.

RU486 is known to have killed women. The decomposing foetus causes septic shock. It requires three or more visits to a clinic or hospital, requiring more staff and careful monitoring, which is a ludicrous idea in country areas.

It can have multiple side-effects, including heavy bleeding and cardiac arrest.

Wake up, feminists. It is women you are hurting!
