The Francis family and I thank all our friends and the supporters of Endeavour Forum for their messages of sympathy and many
kindnesses shown to us at this sad time. We are also grateful to Most Rev. Bishop Peter J. Elliott, Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne, for
offering the Pontifical Requiem Mass for Charles, and to His Grace, Archbishop Denis Hart, DD, Archbishop of Melbourne, for the
gratitude he expressed "for the prudent counsel so readily offered by Charles over the years, and particularly in these times". Bishop
Elliott said: "Charles Francis epitomised the concurrence of faith and reason that is the ideal of a Catholic gentleman and scholar. He
chose the faith of millions. He lived the faith. He loved the faith”.
