POLAND

About 65 years ago cries for help came from inside the trains going to a Nazi extermination camp and bothered the attendees at a nearby church. The congregation sang a little louder. Does Dr. Drayton encourage congregations of the Uniting Church to sing loudly?

And now a good statement:  Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Roman Giertych, told European news reporters that Poland would not back down on plans to oppose abortion and homosexuality as enshrined rights in a future European constitution. Speaking in Heidelberg, Germany, at an informal meeting of European education ministers, Giertych told reporters that “Europe needs changes. Abortion needs to be banned immediately.”

Giertych called abortion “a new form of barbarism,” and warned of the impending demise of Christian-based culture in Europe. He said, “A nation which kills its children is a nation without a future. A continent which kills its children will be settled by people who do not kill theirs.

“If we will not use all our power to strengthen the family, then as a continent there is not a future for us. We will be a continent settled by representatives of the Islamic world who care for the family.” He called for a serious discussion of the Christian foundation of morality that sustains Europe.
