ABORTION-BREAST CANCER NEWS
The Philippine Foundation for Breast Care Inc. (PFBCI) is the 8th medical organisation to acknowledge the Abortion-Breast Cancer link. The acknowledgement in an official letter by Dr. Christina L. Santos, president of PFBCI, followed the visit to the Philippines by Denise Mountenay and Molly White of Women for Life International, who spoke at a forum organised by PFBCI, the Breast Cancer Society of Manila Inc., Roche-Oncology Philippines and the Breast Care Centre-East Ave Medical Centre. The other seven organisations acknowledging the ABC link are: National Physicians Center for Family Resources (US) Catholic Medical Association (US) Matercare International Breast Cancer Prevention Institute Polycarp Research Institute American Assoc. of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists Ethics & Medics/ National Catholic Bioethics Centre In addition, the Assoc. of American Physicians and Surgeons issued a statement in 2003 calling on doctors to inform their patients about a "highly plausible” relationship between abortion and increased breast cancer risk.
ENDEAVOUR FORUM WORKSHOP AT THE UN Following their visit to the Philippines, Denise and Molly organised and spoke at two Endeavour Forum workshops in New York held in conjunction with the 50th Meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The meetings were chaired by Dr. Marie Meaney of Human Life International. Professor Joel Brind (endocrinologist) and breast surgeon Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, speakers at the first meeting titled "Women's Reproductive Health", explained the biological mechanism of the abortion-breast cancer link. The few pro-abortion feminists who attended the workshop were verbally outraged that the ABC link is being covered up and that young, teenage women are not informed of the increased risk of breast cancer when they begin to take contraceptives and that this risk skyrockets if the teenager also has an abortion during her first pregnancy The second workshop entitled "Women's Health after Abortion” was addressed by Molly, who is also Founder and Director of "Redeemed for Life", Texas, and Denise and Meloney Meterei who also represent Canada Silent No More. They shared their personal stories of the aftermath of abortion and educated the audience on the physical, psychological and spiritual consequences of abortion on the lives of women, men, and surviving children. Molly reports: “The UN is plagued by liberal feminist groups who overlook every important need of women like education, equal opportunities in the workplace, food, clothing and housing and good medical care before, during and after pregnancy and focus only on pushing their international abortion on demand agenda. The workshop was well attended by women from Africa, Egypt, Japan, Australia, England, and the United States. Women were moved to tears as we shared how abortion brought so much pain and destruction into our lives. We were hugged and thanked by the attendees who also encouraged us to continue our work”.
Madge Fahy, National International Secretary, Catholic Women's League, Australia, reported: "As in past years at Endeavour Forum workshops, following the formal presentations women stay behind to get as much information as they can on the subjects. When I left at 5pm women were still there. Thank you Babette for allowing CWLA to be a small part of these excellent sessions".
