Saving babies and their mothers

Artist Emma Beck  hanged herself after aborting her twins when she was eight weeks pregnant, leaving a note saying: "Living is hell for me. I should never have had an abortion. I see now I would have been a good mum.  I told everyone I didn't want to do it, even at the hospital.  I was frightened, now it is too late. I died when my babies died. I want to be with my babies -  they need me, no-one else does."

I would like to thank Babette Francis of  Endeavour Forum Inc, Australia, for accrediting us to attend the Commission on the Status of Women meeting again this year.  Early Monday morning we began to invite delegates and representatives from nations around the world to join our workshops.  Our first workshop, "Breast Cancer Prevention" featured Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, breast surgeon, researcher, author and co-founder of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute, and Dr. Joel Brind, President of BCPI.

 

Women’s mental health after abortion

Mothers with a history of previous abortion are more likely to use illegal drugs and alcohol during subsequent pregnancy.9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 In a study of pregnant women, there was no difference in risk of substance abuse between women who wanted the pregnancy compared with those who did not want the pregnancy. But higher rates of drug abuse during pregnancy were found in women who had a previous abortion compared to women who had a prior abortion.15

 

New York, New York: Commission On The Status Of Women

UN headquarters in New York becomes an annual  feminist Mecca during the last week of February and the first week of March  when the sisterhood  from all over the world gathers for the ruminations of the UN's Commission on the Status of Women (CSW):  this year was the 52nd such talk-fest.    A document of  "Agreed Conclusions" was  produced at the end of the two-week session.

An unprecedented breakthrough in stem cell science has made cloning – and its supporting legislation - redundant.

    No longer is SCNT-cloning the only way to obtain ‘patient-matched’ embryonic stem cells, which are so desired by researchers. The new method of direct reprogramming of adult cells – taking skin cells and using a few genetic factors to restore them to the equivalent of embryonic stem cells – achieves the same outcome, without ever creating or destroying a human embryo.

 

 

Abortion: Untold truths

March 1, 2008 -- SHE didn't have to die. And neither did her unborn children. Last weekend, London newspapers reported on the 2007 suicide of 30-year-old Emma Beck, a young British artist who hung herself after the abortion of her twin babies. Perhaps the retelling of her suffering can prevent more needless deaths.

 

 

The end of Man?

The technique developed last year by Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, Kyoto University, of converting adult skin cells into  embryonic-like pluripotent stem cells  has been  hailed by pro-lifers  because it eliminates the need for manufacturing  and destroying human embryos for their stem cells.
