Charles Francis - 15 July 1924 - 14 August 2009

In rememberance of my beloved husband Charles.....

May his noble soul rest in peace.Charle Francis

Babette Francis

Charles Francis was honorary legal adviser  to Endeavour Forum Inc.

R.I.P. CHARLES FRANCIS. We mourn the passing of Charles Francis, the brilliant and faithful husband of Babette Francis, president of Endeavor Forum, Eagle Forum's Australian affiliate. One of his country's leading attorneys, Charles handled many pro-life cases and causes, and was a leader in educating the public about abortion's connection to breast cancer. Charles and Babette, who have both lectured all over the world (including at Eagle Forum's conferences), are internationally respected authorities and writers on abortion and feminism.

Eagles send Babette our deepest sympathy.

CHARLES FRANCIS,  QUEENS COUNSEL

Bishop Peter J. Elliott

I begin the celebration of this Funeral Mass for Charles Francis, Queens Counsel, by conveying our sincere condolences to the family, first to Charles widow, Babette, and to their children: Catherine, Rowena, Prudence, Nicholas, Michael, Geoffrey, Derek. Lisa, and their families, with condolences to David and Shan, Charles brother and sister.

This morning, I am joined at the altar in Eucharistic concelebration by Father John Martis of the Society of Jesus, Babettes cousin, who will preach, Father Brendan Dillon, the Parish Priest of Glen Waverley,
Fr. Bernard McGrath of Bendigo and Father Maurice Ward, a Redemptorist father.

I convey the condolences of His Grace Archbishop Denis Hart, together with his gratitude for the prudent counsel so readily offered by Charles over the years, and particularly in these times.

The presence of representatives of the Law, the Government and the Opposition, and particularly the local Federal Member, Hon. Peter Costello, is a concrete expression of the deep esteem so many hold for a great and wise man.

Charles Francis epitomised the concurrence of faith and reason that is the ideal of a Catholic gentleman and scholar. He chose the faith of millions. He lived the faith. He loved the faith.

Now, as Charles would wish, let us take up the Christian duty of offering the one eternal Sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the repose of his generous soul.

Eulogy

"One of the things that really stood out about my father was his great love of family. He died happily anticipating his 19th grandchild and two more great grand children all due to be born in the coming months"

This eulogy to Charles was given at the Requiem Mass by his daughter - Prue Francis
